My journey started 24 years ago. I was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis. This is a slow progressing disease of the Bone Marrow. The only known cure back then was a Bone Marrow Transplant. Through the years, Chris and I traveled to leading cancer centers trying to understand the research surrounding the disease. I had always hoped there would be other treatments if not a pill to cure it.

Fast forward to 2019, the disease has progressed. I am blood transfusion dependent, my blood is showing signs of increased immature cells and the marrow is transforming. All signs that before it morphs into Leukemia, I must have a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT).

So on June 13, 2019, I will be admitted to Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, FL, (right down the street from my house) for an Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplant.

A non-related donor has been located, via Be The Match. God has been with me during this journey. We are so blessed we were not lead to transplant years ago.

Medical advances are amazing. So with God leading the way, I have nothing but positive things to look forward to at the end of the journey! Please pray for me, the donor, the medical team and most importantly my family as they watch me go through this procedure.

GAME ON!!

Eliza

Note: please do not send flowers. They are not allowed in the BMT unit. Also Caring Bridge Donations are for Caring Bridge only. They have nothing to do with me.
