On May 31 I will be going into Yale New Haven hospital to have open heart surgery for a genetic condition. They will be repairing damage to my aorta and replacing my aortic valve with a mechanical valve. The success rate on this surgery is very high and the surgeon performing the surgery is the head of the aortic institute at Yale New Haven. He has done this surgery thousands of times and it seems this will be "routine"! Your prayers and good wishes are greatly appreciated. My friends and family will be using this site to update you on the surgery and the recovery at Yale - which is expected to be 2 days in ICU and 5 days total in the hospital. Caring Bridge is a great way to communicate to everyone - it also has a fund raising element that I don't seem to be able to deactivate. I am not requesting any donations for anything. I've created this site simply to communicate updates to those who care to know how I'm doing. Thank you for checking in on me and for all of the love that I can feel from far and wide. God is good.
