My BRCA journey started almost a year ago in November. My uncle was diagnosed with breast cancer and was also tested for and shown to have the BRCA 2 gene mutation. This set off a wave of testing throughout the family. When my Dad found out he had it as well it was my turn to test. And we all know the results.
My first preventative surgery was a total hysterectomy. This surgery was physically fairly easy to recover from but mentally and emotionally I suffered. I also didn’t reach out to or really open up to any of my friends. I isolated and the loneliness took it’s toll.
When the mastectomy was scheduled I decided not to do the same thing again. That being said I can not say how grateful and blessed I feel by all of you. You have been there for me, listened to me and supported my in every way and I feel confident and safe and secure going into this surgery.
I started this site to make it easier to see everyone because I want to see everyone! and send out updates in one place.
