Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

The third week of November Elijah was admitted into Stanford Medical Center to treat an infection in his heart....which caused endocarditis,  and as a result a damaged aortic valve and root.   The process of finding the right antibiotics, finding out he needed open heart surgery to replace the aortic valve and then determining that a blockage was found in his brain that will require surgery  after the heart stabilizes due to hydrocephalus has left Elijah with a LOT on his plate!!  Once under control with antibiotics,  he was sent home following the Thanksgiving Holiday, Nov 29th,  with a picc line to continue treatment on the infection.  By Dec 1 he was back at Stanford running more tests to determine why he was having so much pain.   Open heart surgery took place one week ago, Thursday, Dec 14.  It's been up and down, significant nausea, not a lot of sleep, acid reflux and tremendous pain.  Through it all Elijah has been an incredibly strong.  He appreciates everyone's love, prayers, cards,  service, encouragement and gifts.  It all has been a huge source of blessing.  I suggested a caring bridge site for them as the phone service at the hospital isn't good, Scott and Mary are stretched for time and energy and this way, we can all keep up, pray and send Elijah our own notes of encouragement as he gets back to his wonderful self!!!!!
