About Eleanor: Eleanor began her career at ROCC in 1969, working in the Hunt Room as a server alongside other legacy staff members like Myrtle, Florence, and Lillie. By 1974, Eleanor moved to the Main Dining Room and Lounge as a Cocktail Server, and also worked the ever-popular “Midnight Breakfast”. In 1993, Eleanor moved to the Grill and Oak Room as a Cocktail Server, doubling as Captain in recent years. She was known and cherished for ensuring members were cocktailed, seated, and cared for in a way that has become a standard of service at the Club.
River Oaks is fortunate to employ many long-tenured and dedicated staff spanning all areas of Club Operations, yet stories like Eleanor’s are so very special as it’s not often that anyone spends 50 years doing anything. Her warmth, grace and exceptional service will forever be remembered. Eleanor retired after 52 years of service to ROCC just last year. Please leave your warm wishes for Eleanor here on this site.
