We began this journey December 15th when Elaine (mom) tried getting out of bed but was unable to walk or even feel her legs.  An ambulance was called taking her to the hospital where they began to figure out the cause of the numbness.  After several hours, tests and scans it was determined that she had a mass, a suspected tumor on her spine that needed to be removed immediately.  She had been previously complaining about back pain was and being treated for cysts on her back.  The doctors were going to look at taking out as well.

After a long 4-hour surgery, we learned that it was indeed cancer and that the cysts turned out to be a very aggressive form of cancer.  They removed one of two larger tumors but found several others as well.  They were sending the samples off to pathology and it now becomes a waiting game for information.  She was put in her room in neurology with a spine full of staples and two drains in her back and a lot of drugs.  Here is her story...
