Within the last few months, Eileen noticed some subtle changes in her day to day activities. Those symptoms, loss of use of her left hand, slurred speech and impact to the emotional center of her brain,  ramped up in intensity the first two weeks of January.  An MRI was ordered on January 25th and the results required she be hospitalized on January 26th at Hinsdale Hospital. The MRI indicated areas of concern on the brain consistent with the symptoms she was experiencing.  Doctors found several lesions on 3 different areas of her brain.
After through testing from head to toe, doctors were unsure what the root cause was. Consequently on Monday, February 1st, 2016, a brain biopsy was conducted and doctors reported it looked like the lesions were mailgnant.
The biopsy sample was sent to Mayo Clinic to specify the type of malignancy and we were notified today, February 8, by her neurologist that the results are back. Her team consisting of oncologist and neurosurgeon will be meeting tomorrow, February 9, to review the results and discuss the treatment plan. We have an appointment with the oncologist on February 11 and we expect to know exactly what we are up against and the suggested course of treatment at that time.
Eileen is currently resting at home waiting to begin her battle. She is on a high dose of steroids to hold the swelling in check which helps somewhat with the symptoms but unfortunately it also severely impacts her sleep which her brain desperately needs.
Needless to say the woman who has dedicated her life to being there for others now needs your prayers. We are strengthened by our family and friends and will need that positive energy as we ramp up for the fight of our lives.

Eileen, Brendan, PK, and our angel Sean (aka Boomer) all pictured with their mom on this site along with another angel/son we lost due to a miscarriage, Colin and PK's fiancé Abbie, thank you for the prayers, positive energy, and show of support we have alredy been showered with. The results were not what we prayed for but the outpouring of love for Eileen is truly an answer to our prayers. Special recognition to the nurses at Hinsdale Hospital who were awesome.

So keep talking to your own personal angels to help her through this process and share your stories of Eileen.
