Ed was diagnosed with stage three esophageal cancer on January 13, 2016. There is a ulcerated growth formed on the wall of his esophagus which is pressing on a nerve in his back.
Ed was checked into Mercy Hospital on February 8th, the tumor has swollen, making in increasingly difficult to swallow food or liquid. The next day a feeding tube was placed and on February 11th Ed began Chemo and Radiation therapy.
At this point the plan is to continue the chemo twice a week and the radiation five days a week for the next six weeks. At which point another PETscan will determine whether the growth has shrunk enough to move forward with surgery. The surgery will remove the lower part of his esophagus and upper stomach.
As of right now a lot is still up in the air. Ed's wife, children, grand children, great-grand children, and family are greatly appreciate your support and prayers.
