Dylan was recently diagnosed with ALL (leukemia). It was a bit of a shock as he was playing little league baseball and playing with friends without a care in the world in the few days before. It was noticed at school that Dylan was very pale and the school called and notified us on a Tuesday. We took him to the doctor and he had labs drawn on Wednesday. Within four hours, we had a call from the doctor's office saying that he needed to be admitted and his blood counts were off. Dylan went to OSF and had a blood transfusion and more labs drawn. We were notified that it was in fact leukemia shortly after. The following day, we were sent to St. Jude and Dylan has been receiving treatment since early Friday morning when we arrived at the hospital.  Dylan has a long road ahead of him. The initial phases are going to be done in Memphis at St. Jude's and we will be here for 12 weeks at least. After that we can do some of our treatments in Peoria at the St. Jude Clinic and some of the time we will have to travel back to Memphis. All together he will be in treatment for about 3 years. He is a fighter though and is keeping his spirits up through it all!
