Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Duke served in the US military and was a technical sergeant in the Air Force for many years. After his service, Duke moved to Brownsburg, Indiana into a home in July, 2019. He went to work for Jet Star, Inc. which primarily serves airports with aviation fuel.  Duke was involved in a fuel tanker explosion accident on February 20, 2020 near I-70 and I-465 on the east side of Indianapolis. His tanker carrying 7,500 gallons of jet fuel overturned and exploded.  The fire spread about 500 feet. Duke was on fire when he was able to escape the truck. Good Samaritans guided him to safety. Duke was rushed to the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center at Eskenazi Health at 720 Eskenazi Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46202 and is in room 4611.  Duke has third degree burns (full thickness) on 75-80% of his body. Duke has a C-4 fracture, T1-3 fractures, mandible fracture, and inhalation injury. He is requiring mechanical ventilation and dialysis. Duke remains in critical, but stable condition.
