Family and friends, thank you for the outpouring of love our family has felt in recent days. Your encouraging texts and emails have meant so much to us!

As we continue to journey together, we have determined that information about Duane's health situation is best to remain in one centralized place - that's here, on Caring Bridge! Please do your best to look here to be updated. We welcome encouraging text and emails, but please rely on this site to receive information. Thanks for understanding!

In just the last few weeks, a mass was found in Duane's throat. After a biopsy and several test, it was determined to be a cancerous tumor in his thyroid. We are working with specialists at the James in order to determine the best course of action. We received good news from the endocrinologist this week - the tumor has clear borders which will help in the removal process. This coming week the "tumor board" will review his situation. Surgery will follow soon after, and likely there will be chemo therapy treatment as well (there are a few lymph nodes and suspicious spots on his vertebrae and lung).

We ask for your prayers. This is obviously very hard news, especially in light of Gloria's decline due to dementia. Us siblings are working closely with Duane to help him make decisions and plans to care both for him and Gloria. We will be reaching out soon to loop you in to specific ways you can help care for them. Until then, please continue to pray...and praise God. We are so thankful for His secure foundation; his love that never ends and His mercies that are new every morning. We are so thankful for the unity and friendship between all of us siblings. We are so grateful that Duane and Gloria's life and eternal resting place are secure in the hands of a good and loving Father. We are so thankful for a deep and wide-spread community of friends and family who are in this with us. We have a lot to praise God for - thank you for joining us in the journey.
On behalf of Team Flemming,
~Lindsay
