Dryden Stuart Badal

August 21, 2022 will be a day I will never forget. It was the 3rd time in a week I went to Cincinnati Children’s hospital with our son Dryden. He just turned 5 and was crying and complaining of bone pain. Thinking it was from rough housing with his older brothers (they love to wrestle) I took him in. They chalked it up to some muscle pain. A couple of days later a fever appeared with the bone pain. Took him back and got blood work. Everything came back ok except for anemia. During this time a black eye appeared with no explanation. It wasn’t painful and wasn’t going away. My mom radar went off and I just knew something was wrong. That’s when I took him back that Sunday. I was there from noon til midnight when they discovered a mass near his right kidney.

We were immediately admitted to the oncology department at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. I cannot describe the feeling of walking into the hospital with a simple concern and later being admitted for 2 weeks. What a whirlwind of emotions.

After a full week of poking, 2 surgeries, many scans and crazy amounts of lab work we got a diagnosis of stage 4 high risk Neuroblastoma.

This caring bridge is for anyone who wants to follow our journey in getting our Dryden cured. It will be a long road (18 months). Please keep Dryden
in your prayers.

I will post as much as I can to update on his progress.

Pax,
Steven and Julie Stuart
