Dr. Stephen Henderson was starting 2018 full of energy with plans and dreams for a active year. He had just had an amazing end to 2017. Momentous occasions included a trip to Oregon with longtime friends from Denver, a family trip to Costa Rica celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary and a wonderful party continuing the celebration with longtime friends in Longmont. 

Unfortunately, just three weeks into 2018 Dr. Henderson was hit with a diagnosis that has changed everything. After initially being diagnosed with mild stroke, he underwent some more tests as his condition seemed to be worsening. He was experiencing extreme fatigue, was losing the ability to speak coherently and was having difficulty with some of his motor functions. After two weeks of tests we have learned of the diagnosis, which was worse than we feared. Last week he was confirmed to have glioblastoma, that could be classified as at an advanced stage.

We are devastated by this diagnosis and are aware that currently the great doctor, husband, friend, (avid golfer) father, and grandfather's time with us is now limited. As the shock of all of this ebbs to a certain extent, we find ourselves trying to make sense of everything and most importantly how can we make the most of the rest of Steve’s time with us. We know that he has touched a great number of people in his life and want to give them a chance to ‘touch’ back in whatever way might be possible. We have resolved to take it day by day. We are going to just be with him, love him and pray for strength. Our hearts are heavy but we are hopeful to find peace and solace as we shepherd this incredible man through his last days.
