Drew has been suffering from headaches for the last 8 days and they have been increasing in intensity. Yesterday morning I took him to the ER at Mercy. An MRI confirmed the worst news. Drew has a brain tumor. They transferred us by ambulance to Children's and we met with a neurosurgeon here. This morning Drew will have a procedure to release fluid and pressure from his brain. Then they will leave him sedated for a lengthier MRI to get more information. Monday he will have a very lengthy, complicated surgery to remove what they can of the tumor. Best case scenario they can remove it all in 12-14 hours. We are in the pediatric ICU until at least Tuesday but probably longer. We will be in the hospital for at least 1-2 weeks and they will not know more about the tumor until it's removed and sent to pathology for a week. Drew just knows that his head hurts and doctors are keeping him here until they can do more tests and fix his headaches. Doctors are hopeful but realistic because the tumor is pushing on his brain stem and wrapped around important  nerves that affect his tongue, swallowing, hearing on his left side, and facial muscles on the left. This is so surreal and scary. I will update when we know more. Thanks, Jennifer
