Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Ron has fought a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer and underwent chemo and radiation therapy for the past year.  He was finally cleared by the Mayo Surgical team to have his surgery to remove the remaining tumor, this procedure is called a Whipple. Initially he had a successful surgery with no signs of remaining cancer. He was discharged from the hospital and developed two complications related to the Whipple surgery and had to return to Mayo Hospital this past week.  He had a leak at his internal surgical site and a bile leak that led to a painful infection in his abdomen.  This has left him in a lot of pain, poor nutrition, feeling weak and tired.  He is on antibiotics and drains were placed to drain out the abscess that had formed in his abdomen. He is making slow steps to recovery, however it is very hard for him to be all alone.  With the Covid-19 crisis he is unable to have any friends or family visit him. We cannot even send him flowers to help brighten his room.

He is showing signs of feeling very depressed that he is alone. As most of you who know him, know that he is a very social and talkative person.  He is having a hard time being able to talk to us on the phone because he is struggling with getting his breath, related to pain and feeling weak. He is making small improvements, however he still has a large Norwegian Mountain to climb. For all who know him, you know that he WILL not hesitate to climb that mountain until he is well again.  Please send him messages of encouragement and love so he can read them when he is feeling up to it again.  I will also be using this site to post updates to my dad's condition.
