Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  PLEASE FEEL FREE TO LEAVE DOUG A WELL WISH ON THE PAGE! Thank you for visiting.

On NYE, Doug was injured in a fall at his house. He was diagnosed with an incomplete spinal cord injury affecting his C6 & C7. Surgery was completed immediately and we have waited day to day for him to regain strength, balance and feeling in all parts of his body. Due to his
injuries being specific to his spinal cord, treatment was recommended at a spinal cord rehabilitation center in Colorado; Craig Hospital. Doug was accepted quickly and transferred to Craig on 1/14/19. Treatment will last several months and Tammy will stay with him throughout his time at rehab. Tammy will become educated on spinal cord injuries and how to care for someone with this type of injury. We have been told that family support is a key part of recovery and are hoping Shane and Shawn can visit their dad at least 1x while in Colorado. Doug has a
strong extended family and most of us plan to visit him a few times during his recovery at Craig. A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with cost of getting family members there for support and medical meetings as well as for Tammy to eat, have a place to stay (Craig provides 30 days of free housing) and any unexpected expenses that accrue along the way.  Our family has been beyond blessed with the success of the GoFundMe page from loved ones, community and some that don't even know Doug. WE APPRECIATE EACH OF YOU FOR ALL YOU'VE DONE.  For those unfamiliar with Doug, he is a fighter and will pull through this but needs the support of those around him to get back to where he was. Doug served his community for 28 years as a fireman and EMT, we know he has so much to give but for now, we want to
support him and do whatever it takes to get him back at his best. He has a great niece and great nephews that need him at his best for years of swimming and fishing. #WyckoffsWarriors
