Welcome to Doug's CaringBridge site. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
Doug has been diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. This is an aggressive form and there is no cure for this. Treatment options are limited for him due to other pre-existing conditions. Doug's team of physicians have given him two options. One is a chemotherapy course of injections that will require daily injections for five days and then 3 weeks off. He would return for the second round after 28 days from the start of the initial injection. The second option is to just let the cancer run it's course with the comfort of hospice.
Never one to back down from a fight, Doug has chosen to try the chemotherapy injections and will start the first round on January 22.
