It has been a long time since i have had to use Caring bridge - but with the current prolonged process with Dorothy in the hospital - and all the people who want updates....my phone is blowing up and i can't keep up with who i told what - so i have decided to re-open the caring bridge site that we started way back in 2008.  I will do what i can to let everyone know of the switch in communication methods - please bear with me as i make this transition....March 21, 2024

Old habits die hard.  This day, January 3rd will never be the same for most of us.  When i was saying grace at dinner tonight with Dorothy i started crying at the part where you say, "these thy gifts that we are about to receive from Thy bounty"...what an amazing gift i was give those three short years ago.  Dorothy continues to improve with speech - not nearly as quickly as in the first few months, but we still get that smile, "high five" and a "that's a good one" from her from time to time.  Thanks for all the love and support.  We hope that 2011 is a blessed year for you all.

From Jessica Pfau:

Although I arrived after the surgery had taken place, I have been spending nights in the ICU with my mother and father. I leave only for a quick shower and to get something to eat; otherwise I am here at the hospital.

I will try to get one or two postings in during the day and a brief summary of the entire day at night between 11pm-4am. I hope you find the information helpful. Check back often and keep the prayers coming!

From Jim - If and when I have few minutes I'll try and add my two cents. I'll try to get to as many of you as possible, but quite frankly, one of the many blessings of all this is just how many of all of you out there there are.... Thanks to Ray N. for setting this up for us...it has already been a God send.

With love and great gratitude,

jim s
