Don was diagnosed with end stage kidney failure in January 2016, due to Agent Orange poisoning during his Vietnam tour (1970-71). To combat the disease, he does nine hours of peritoneal dialysis every night. Fortunately, he can do that from the comfort of his recliner. Meanwhile, he waits for a kidney transplant, preferably from a living donor, the best option. Some near misses on that but so far, no donor has been secured. He’s also on the national list for a deceased donor. More than 100,000 people wait for a kidney transplant from this list and about 15,000 get one each year. So, he carries his cell phone everywhere and answers every call, even the robo calls. It could be a surgeon somewhere calling with a kidney.
When a transplant is scheduled I will publish and update here. Thanks for your love and prayers. Spread the word about the need for a kidney.
