In March of this year 2017 I went into my first ultrasound to find out if we were having a boy or girl, fully intending to have a home birth I was excited for this moment. Found out, it's a boy! Donovan Elijah would be his name, then the ultrasound tech said the doctor would check my scans and be right in, didn't seem right, the maternal fetal medicine doctor came in, he said my son had spina bifida myelomeningocele, clubbed feet and hydrocephalus. Many options were mentioned but clearly my only option was to LOVE my baby as I did my other 5 children. Donovan would be delivered via csection and go into surgery within a couple days of birth to close the lesion in his spine at L4-S1. There is possibility of limited mobility, along with an array of many doctors following him for complications that arise from the damage done to his nerves in utero. This page is to update on him as my sweet boy kicks spina bifida butt! He is amazing and has been such a blessing to us but so very busy with many doctors appointments and worries.
