Thank you for visiting Don's Caring Bridge site. Don has had quite a traumatic year and we are using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers and words of hope and encouragement.

When Don went to the hospital last September (2016), it was a shock to many that he would be there for almost 4 months! The infection that he had in his legs was very severe. After surgeries at Avera, a long stay at Select Specialty Care (in Sanford), and daily home health nurse visits, he was able to return to his salon early this year on February 1st.  Of course, Don couldn't put in the hours that he was used to, but for the next 8 months he worked a good 30 hours a week. He continued to use his walker and he did tire easily, but he continued to make the women of Sioux Falls look beautiful!

On October 12th, Don went back to Avera hospital for both hernia and skin removal surgery. He  had some internal bleeding and needed an emergency surgery.  After spending the week in the hospital, he returned home to recover. Unfortunately,  more complications followed with both a rupture of his 72 staples - and a few days later, sepsis in his abdomen.

From here, the journal updates will take over...
