Our Donna had a severe trauma to her digestive tract about two weeks ago that resulted in her stomach being compromised that led to 5 surgeries and the removal of her stomach here at Harborview Hospital in Seattle. She has been in the Harborview Intensive Care Unit for nearly two weeks. She has been very very ill and on a ventilator. She has been unconscious until this morning. She is still on the ventilator, but we are hoping that we can get her breathing on her own soon. She is starting to come out of the anethesia and is opening her eyes and moving her arms and legs a little. We will likely be here in the ICU until Donna is stable enough to breath on her own and her organs are functioning properly. She has an excellent team of doctors, surgeons and nurses that provide her 24 hour care. We are grateful for the many family, friends and well wishers who have sent their thoughts and prayers and support. Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
