Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Donna's current health issues started right after Christmas, as she fell twice in one day requiring EMS to attend to her. She was transported to a local hospital and deemed to be at risk for sepsis due to an injury to her toe that wouldn't heal and was hospitalized. However, they weren't diligent in ensuring there wasn't more going on, so she opted to leave their care and go home. Family then made the decision to take her to another hospital (Memorial Hermann, The Woodlands) and she was found to have an infection in toe, but it was discovered that the infection traveled to her heart. The doctors discovered that she has a defective mitral valve and the infection traveled up to that valve, and that, along with a newly developed A-Fib issue, was why she was feeling unwell, and weak. After a heart catherization, it was discovered that she also has pulmonary hypertension. due to the defective valve leaking blood into her lungs. Currently, she is being given medication for the infection, A-Fib and her overall heart function. She is also being given oxygen to help her breath, and she needs a bi-pap machine to help her breath while she sleeps. These issues should be minimized, if not remedied after she receives a valve replacement, scheduled for February 8th.

She is, understandably,  very overwhelmed with all that's going on with her health issues, as she was also in the middle of getting her house rebuilt due to her house being flooded during Hurricane Harvey. Donna appreciates all prayers. She's anxious to have her surgery and start feeling better.

**Edit: Valve replacement surgery was performed on 2/2/2018 and was a success. Now she's at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital receiving antibiotics to get rid of the infection and to receive cardiac rehab.  Please continue to pray. Thanks!
