I have a brain tumor (meningioma) that is benign (Thank God).  It is about 1”x1/2”x1”, sort of like a walnut…it’s oval, and it is calcified – which means it is like a rock.  Because it is a rock, and has caused me to have a couple of events where I lost the ability to read, use my right side, and talk for about 5 minutes, Dr. Reames says it has to come out. My operation is scheduled for Nov 13. (x-apple-data-detectors://2)
The tumor is located in the dura, at the top of my head, in the valley between the two hemispheres, but is closer to the left, which operates my right side…too bad I’m right handed.  Reames thinks he can get it all, however, it is close to the main vein in my brain and close to my motor strip.
If all goes perfectly, I’ll be in ICU 2 days, in the main hospital 2 days, then in the doctor’s office for a follow up in 2 weeks (x-apple-data-detectors://4)and could be back at work in a month.   If things don’t go well, I’ll be the one with the horse shoe cutout with staples in my head, a drain hanging out of it, and wandering the halls with the back of my gown hanging open.  Be Kind, Cover My Behind!
Keep me in your prayers, and watch out for my sister, Lynita, she has red hair, shoulder length, very white skin, and she is going to be my and mom’s caregiver through this.  She is even going to move in with us and take care of both of us as long as we need.  Keep us all in your prayers!
