Donna Gessell Donna Gessell

Thank you for being part of Donna's community! We appreciate all of you, and all that you are doing, from sending well wishes to transporting Donna!

Donna had major back surgery in May with a long recovery. In November, she started having pain and difficulty walking. It worsened and she was admitted to the hospital the day after Thanksgiving.  She was in the hospital and skilled nursing until Christmas Eve. Eventually, she was diagnosed with a fractured pelvis from a fall and has a not confirmed but likely diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease. At this moment, the Doctor has ask her not to work for at least 5 weeks. She can not drive for at least 6 months. She is undergoing in-home care for OT, PT, and other services. She is not yet walking, but is mobile using a wheelchair. She has been working hard to rebuild strength and is optimistic she will walk again soon.

Since John went back to work, someone has been with Donna and are aiding with her care around the clock. We are reaching the point where we will be needing more care, so we are setting up a calendar when we hope her friends and family can sign up to help out. All help is appreciated, including sitting with Donna, helping her get to her appointments, and bringing meals.
