Donna Kay Fabian is scheduled for extensive neck surgery on January 15, 2019. She has suffered with severe back pain for years, yet no surgeon would consider operating because of the complexity of her particular case. We have finally found a doctor who is willing to take her case, but only after completion of neck surgery. This step is necessary because the spinal column in her neck is highly constricted and pressing on her spinal cord. Doctors fear that she would not survive back surgery unless the neck is done first.

The plan is to fuse vertebrae C3 to T1 and install metal rods to stabilize her neck. The surgeons will also perform a laminectomy on vertebrae C4 to C7.

Hospitalization is expected to be for 3 to 5 days, followed by treatment in a rehab facility for a week to 10 days.

We will update her progress and status.

Your comments and words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.
