Don Williams

My name is Don Williams, and I live in beautiful Evergreen, Colorado.  I currently teach music to grades K through 8 at Rocky Mountain Academy of Evergreen.  This has been my favorite teaching job in a career where I have been teaching music and other academic topics for over 26 years.

My education consists of:

*a Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Colorado

*a Bachelors Degree in Psycholoy from Hamline University in Minnesota

*Teaching Certification from Metro State College of Denver

*Two years of study as a piano performance major getting highly qualified status in music at CU in Boulder (I received a full-tuition "Fiske" scholarship after winning a piano competition)

My previous teaching jobs have included:

*Teaching Music and 5th grade at RMAE for 3 years

*Teaching Music, Math, and Social Studies at Evergreen Country Day School (I taught at ECDS for six years)

*Teaching K-6th music at South Routt Elementary School (two years)

*Teaching 5th - 7th grade at Forest Heights Lodge in Evergreen (I taught all subjects, and I taught music K-12.  I taught for 11 years)

*Director and teacher at Routt County Alternative School  (I taught all subjects including music to high school students for 2 years)

*Teaching all subjects and music to 2nd-8th at North Routt Charter School for 2 years.

*Teaching tennis at The Evergreen Tennis Center for 10 years

I was born in Denver, but grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota.  I moved back to Evergreen, Colorado in 1982 for the great skiing.  I love to ski, play tennis, play music, hike, bike, and enjoyed the outdoors.  I have been dealing with stage four Kidney cancer for the past two years, but I have been able to continue teaching full-time.  I was even voted as "Teacher of the Year" at the end of the last school year.  I plan on teaching and enjoying my passions for as long as my health will allow.
