Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Don has had a dry annoying cough all year. His doctor had no real treatment until we insisted on an X-ray on May 1 followed by a CT scan the next day. On May 5, following a brancosopy, he was told he has a right lung mass, a spot on his brain, liver and lymph glands. In other weeks, he has lung cancer that spread.
Since then, he has had other diagnostic tests and procedures, but, after a tumor board at Stanford questioned the original type of cancer, he will undergo a liver biopsy tomorrow. Small cell endocrine cancer was the first diagnosis, but we hope this changes as this type is hard to stop or treat.  This cancer rarely is found in non-smokers which is Don.Meanwhile the Santa Rosa oncologist went on vacation, so we plan to depend on Stanford for a treatment plan as well as correct diagnosis.
