Hello family and friends,

As many of you know, in May of 2016, Don was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis, a serious type of blood cancer that is progressive and irreversible.  We created this Caring Bridge page in February, 2017 to update friends and family about Don's health, and we did not expect him to recover.  By March, he surprised his family and caregivers--his condition improved and he eventually went home.  We were incredibly fortunate to have more time together.  Don and Barb even went to Florida again this past February.

In recent weeks, however, Don has had a number of hospitalizations due to  increasing complications associated with his disease.  Last week he was also diagnosed with Leukemia, which was always a concern in the later stages of Myelofibrosis.  Sadly it is very aggressive.

Throughout his treatment, Don has maintained his sense of humor, delighting family, friends and medical staff in the face of declining health.  His wit has remained stellar and despite acute discomfort at times, Don has continued to express his love and appreciation for family, friends and those things he values most.  He is spending his final days at home with Barbara and family members, Jill and Jay, David and Lauren, Roger and Steve.

Don and Barbara are not able to accept visitors, but truly appreciate all your love, support, and prayers. The best way to be in contact at this time is through the Caringbridge site.

For those that wish to pray for Don's health, his hebrew name is Dovid ben Leah.

Thank you.
