Don/Dad was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) February 5th, following a four day stay at the hospital. His prognosis was 3 weeks to several months without treatment. He has been fighting Parkinson's for the past 8 years, along with COPD and chose not to seek treatment. His oncologist agrees with this decision. As you all know, being the stubborn German and character that he is, we are now in the third month of survival.
The family is so very grateful Dad and Dee moved back to the Denver area last summer. It is a blessing to be able to spend so much time with them both. Dad is still able to care for himself, with Dee right by his side. They are working with in-home hospice care on an "as needed" basis. Essentially, it is "what to expect" and "here's how to stay safe" at this point.
Please feel free to share your thoughts and feelings on this site. Emails and phone calls are appreciated, but a bit overwhelming. We will keep this site updated with his progress
