Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

Almost 4 years ago we learned that DJ was at stage 3 with liver dysfunction and may need a transplant eventually. Throughout the last few years, he has had his throat veins rubber band together (varices) to flatten them out as a preventive measure to avoid possible suffocation from rupture. Within the past year, DJ has been hospitalized about 4 times, with each stay showing signs of semi-rapid declining numbers. Even after Pints of blood, bags of platelets, as well as month + hospital stays, his condition worsened. It was not long after that we were informed that his kidneys were failing. Shortly after, he was placed on dialysis. 5 livers and 4 kidneys passed through the hospital doors, but none were transplantable. After years of numerous Dr. visits, resulting in skyrocketing doctor bills, a match for DJ was Fianlly found. His team of dedicated doctors, nurses and other staff have made his pre/post-transplant Journey a success. Although he's not in the clear yet, he was blessed with not only one (1) but two (2) new organs and we are taking his recovery one day and step at a time.
