On Sunday, May 28th, Dixie fell down the stairs leading to her basement. Bill was home and called 911. Upon admittance to Sanford she was intubated and sedated. She fractured her skull in the back of her head and had a brain bleed in the front. The bleed caused a large blood clot on the right side of her brain. She was taken into surgery, where they removed 2 sections of her skull and successfully removed the bloodclot and stopped the bleeding in the frontal lobe. They left the sections of skull off to allow the brain to expand and limit pressure. The Dr. stated that her brain had nice color after the blood was removed, which is a good sign. There doesn't appear to be anyother injuries. She will remain sedated for a day or two and then she will start her healing process.
