UPDATED POST. MARCH 28TH, 2017. Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We created to page it to keep friends and family updated during the worst time of our lives. Today, almost a year after Diego finished chemotherapy, the prognosis is really good. He keeps on doing labs and visiting his oncologists once a month and undergoing innumerable tests (MRIs, CT scans, PET scans, Bone scans, echo-cardiograms) every 3-4 months. Our reality is different now, but we will never be carefree.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during our past process and our current post-treatment period.  I hope someone could find some comfort and hope in my words in the unfortunate case that your life has been or is being touched by any type of cancer. Gracias.

ORIGINAL POST. NOVEMBER 13TH, 2015. Our 14-year old son Diego was diagnosed with an B-cells non-Hodgkins lymphoma affecting his left tibia and his right pelvis on November 4th after 2 months of pain and physical therapy for what we believed was a bursitis on his left knee. He had surgery on his left tibia to alleviate his pain and treat an early diagnosis of osteomyletis (bone infection) on Friday October 30th. When the extracted tissue was analyzed, its pathology came back showing a lymphoma on his left tibia. After numerous tests another tumor was found on his right pelvis. Last week he started 1/2 dose of chemo to see how his body reacted and everything went as well as can be expected. He is starting his first cycle of chemo today, Nov. 13th. This will be a slow process with ups and downs and hopefully a time we will remember not because of the severity of the disease but for the incredible acts of generosity and care that our family and friends are showing us. Marta & Samuel Silva.

Samuel y Marta Silva.
