Dick Cross had open heart surgery to repair and replace a mitro valve as well as a triple bypass on Wednesday, June 21st. Just as he did 12 years ago when he suffered a major heart attack, he has to play hardball with the doctors and is making sure that they earn their money.
Immediately after surgery they needed to give him blood transfusions to stabilize him. Soon after that his blood pressure dropped out.
They stabilized him again and got him up to the ICU.
Overnight, his blood levels could not be regulated and by 2 pm Thursday he had gone through 9 units of blood. The staff is saying that he is not bleeding in any specific location and rather it is just that his liver is not working well enough to circulate the blood pooled in his chest from the surgery. They did perform an esopoghogeal ekg today and said the valve is working as it should and those results were the first and only positives since his surgery. They have placed him on temporary dialysis to help support his liver and kidneys.
While he remains in critical condition at this time, his family is asking for the power of your prayers in order to bring this man back to his family.
