From Danielle (Dick's oldest daughter):

On October 25th, Dad officially announced that he would be retiring on December 31, 2021 after over 40 years with Restaurant Associates!  He's been so excited about this next chapter with Mom, his girls and their family, especially his 4 grandchildren. 

On November 5th, Dad woke up not feeling well, was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with Pneumonia. He was not bouncing back as quickly as we hoped and that's when this journey began.

On Wednesday, December 8, Dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma which is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. The cancerous plasma cells accumulate in the bone marrow and crowd out healthy blood cells. While this is a treatable cancer, unfortunately the myeloma has affected some major organs in his body.

On Saturday, December 11, Dad was admitted to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell and is currently in the ICU where he is receiving incredible care. He is an enigma to all of the doctors so he is in for the fight of his life. 

Mom, Dorian, Dara, Lee, Leigh, Sienna, Brody, Ellie, Gavin and I are all keeping hope alive for the most loving, handsome, STRONG, charismatic, funny, genuine human being you all know. All we ask of you is to send positive vibes, healing thoughts, strength and/or pray.
