My Mom was diagnosed with MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome) in May 2017.  This is a type of blood cancer that can progress to leukemia.
Because she has a higher risk form of MDS, she started treatment immediately after diagnosis.  She underwent treatment with Vidaza for 6 months and did not have any noticeable improvement in her condition.  Her next step is a stem cell transplant and I will be her donor (haploid
match).  She will be admitted to Greenville Memorial Hospital tomorrow, December 27th, to start the transplant process.  We feel very
fortunate that she has the opportunity to have a potentially life saving treatment and would like for you to follow her through this journey.  We appreciate all of your prayers and well wishes!  I will do my very best to keep you updated on her progress as we get started tomorrow.
