Mom was diagnosed with stage 4 inoperable lung cancer in August 2018. Since that time, along with her oncologist Dr. Braik, she has fought this insidious disease with grace and tenacity. Unfortunately an opportunistic bacteria called Cdiff took hold after her last chemo treatment, and she has steadily weakened. With encouragement from Dr. Braik, we asked Mom what SHE wanted to do. We already knew her chemo could not continue. Mom wanted to enter hospice, and we were fortunate to be able to transfer her on Tuesday, 11/12 to the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso, a small 14-bed facility that provides maximum support for both Mom and our family.
We will update you periodically on her journey. Thanks to all who help, pray for, and love Mom.
