Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated.
Our mother suffered a bleeding stroke on the morning of Thursday, April 28th in Minneapolis. She was at an event with several women from the Mill City Commons group in her neighborhood, so thankfully, a 911 call was made and she arrived to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) within minutes.  She was admitted into ICU and was sedated and intubated for a few days before having a tracheotomy and PEG tube (feeding) inserted.  She remained in ICU at HCMC until May 8th, when she was transferred to a medical floor. She was then transferred to Bethesda hospital on Friday, May 13th for continued medical stabilization and rehab. The obvious effects so far include no movement on her right side and no speech. We are not certain about any cognitive or emotional effects at this time.  She has been awake and alert since May 8th. She has had fluctuating progress since then. Recovery from a stroke is a long and slow process.
We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement!
