Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  Back in late April, a lump was discovered on Diane's neck. Tests and more tests indicated Thyroid cancer. Surgery to remove tumor was quite extensive, including removal of not only the tumor, but a few other important, but not vital, bits and pieces in her neck. Results of this has caused a myriad of unusual side effects and symptoms that may or may not resolve themselves.

To add to the adventure, not only is this Thyroid cancer, it's a specific, rare--and unless there's a miracle about to happen with research--fatal type, called Anapalastic Thyroid cancer (meaning aggressive with a capital A).

At this time, treatment is being done to hopefully slow the regeneration of cancer cells long enough for the research team to come up with something better. This treatment includes a heavy dose of chemotherapy. The first "round" was administered over a 24 hour period this past Monday. Unfortunately, as expected, she did not tolerate this well, hence her current stay at the hospital for nausea and pain control, as well as rehydration. With luck, hopes, and continued prayers, she'll be feeling well enough to come home in a day or two, where we can continue to care for her in a more familiar setting.

Shortness of breath and a healing throat, make it difficult for long conversation. She also tires easily. Cards and well wishes have been coming in, and each are read and appreciated. 😙 At this time, we ask that any calls or visits be kept at a minimum until Diane is feeling stronger--hopefully in a few days. 🙂

Thank you all for your continued prayers and well wishes. ♥
