Welcome to my CaringBridge website. I'm using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. I appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
I was diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis in Dec. of 2017, while wintering in Arizona. In Jan. of 2019 my liver really started to fail and I started retaining fluid that wasn't filtering through the liver.  The only treatment is a liver transplant and I don't qualify for one.  My Doctor has told me 50% of people live with this for two years from diagnosis, depending on the severity of the case.  I’m not sure how much time I have left, but have made some lifestyle changes. My 2nd doctor said he would work hard to help me make it to Dec. of this year.  I have a great support group around me and I believe in God’s promises and the destination of Heaven, which has comforted me.
UPDATE Aug. 2019: I'm seeing my third doctor and like the positive outlook he portrays.  He is scheduling a trip to Mayo, most likely in Oct. to do 3-7 days of testing.  His outlook was 50% of people with my symptoms live up to 5 years! Of course infection can set in and shorten things dramatically but I appreciate him preparing me to live instead of die.
