Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

June 13 Diane entered St. Elizabeth Ft. Thomas feeling short of breath and having upper abdominal pain.  A CT scan of her chest resulted in large fluid build up in both of her lungs.  She was admitted for further evaluation.  Her family doctor came in that evening to see her and decided to further evaluate her with a CT scan of her abdomen.[ ][]On June 15, 2016 the news came of a 13cm right ovarian mass with fluid around both of Diane's lungs that contained cancerous ovarian cells in it.  We were transferred to St. Elizabeth Edgewood to move forward with treatment.  Over the next few hours multiple doctors and nurses began coming in and talking to our family about the next steps.  My mom was going to need a port a cath (special IV access) to take on the chemotherapy.  Our first blessing came when Nurse Mary entered the room and shared her experience.  Mary was an angel who helped guide Diane in her first path on the journey.  Our next blessing came with Dr. Pavelka and Dr. Shuler, the gynecological oncologist who have set the path to treatment.  9 weeks of chemotherapy with surgery to be performed in the next few months to treat ovarian cancer.  June 17 marked her first chemotherapy treatment.  She has received 2 chemo infusions.  We are in a continuous fight against ovarian cancer.  We are blessed to have so much family and friend support.  I (Christie) will try and update this website as often as I can because of all the love and support my mom has received.  We can't thank everyone enough!  Please pray for my family and ask God to bless the doctors, nurses, and medications as the treatment fights the cancer.
