Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.

Ten years ago in 2012, I had early stage breast cancer, surgery and radiation. I did very well until 2018 when I had a very small recurrence  surgically removed.

In the summer of 2020 during the pandemic,  I developed a new Stage 4 breast cancer and was told I had only months to live. One year later I was still doing quite well. It was a long wonderful year with family.  I have been busy!

Earlier this month I began feeling quite ill. The CT suggests changes in my head, although no masses or tumors. There are no further treatments and this will be a wait and watch proposition. We've decided to start home hospice care. In the meantime I'm trying to enjoy everything as much as I can — my family is here and we're enjoying lovely summer days together. I've had an absolutely astoundingly wonderful life and an exceptional husband and daughter. I'm grateful and have been making my way through this difficult time with as much grace as I possibly can.

I will post once a week so everyone has the straight story. You can feel free to post on here and leave a message. It's very difficult for me to get direct emails as they add up quite a bit.  If you prefer to send private email or text, make sure to copy Kirsten at kirbecker@hotmail.com or 310-567-8163 so we don't miss it. I look very much forward to hearing about what you're up to. I also appreciate every little tip and every little boost you give me.
