Diana was severely ill, battling stage-4 pancreatic cancer. She suffered from strokes which caused her to lose much of her sight, and experienced blood clots, pnemonia, difficulties in breathing and keeping food down. For several weeks, she was in hospice care at EMMC in Bangor, and was able to return home to Ellsworth to spend her last days in the comfort of her home with her family of five (husband Byron, and children, Garrian, Mican-Shay, and Obrian). On Monday, August 17, 2020, Diana passed away peacefully in her home.
In addition to regular household bills (including the mortgage on their new house), the medical bills piled up to sky-high amounts. Diana did not have life insurance or social security, and had limited health insurance. Only one family member is currently employed.
We ask for your support for her and her family! In addition to financial support, the Childress family will gladly accept food donations (they eat primarily Jamaican-style meals) at their home at 182 North Bend Road, Ellsworth.
