Dear Family and Friends,
It seems like just yesterday when I got the call from my doctor saying that I had cancer, however, it was on Monday morning around 7:35 am when John Card, a family doctor friend called and confirmed the pathology report. I sat in the bed numb but in my head screaming, the worst of fears had come true. My husband had gotten out of bed and gone to the kitchen to turn on the kettle as he always does and to open all the blinds and walk around without a clue as to what was about to be told to him. I sat there for I know about 15 minutes before I could open my mouth. I think I called my sister first, not sure, everything is such a blur. Then I told Mike. Then out of the blue, my son calls and he could detect in my voice, something is not okay. I promised to never lie to him. I kept my promise. He was 100's of miles away from me. Big risk, I know. Tough kid. He had to take off of work to regroup and help me 100's of miles away get a grip. Mike, my husband, the man who already lost his wife before me to cancer, was frozen. My father devasted but had to find fuel to keep the family from falling apart. He did what all fathers do, go to GOD and made us follow.
The official diagnosis was delivered to my father, my sister, and my husband by a nurse navigator at the breast clinic on my mothers birthday August 22, 2018. Karsyn, my niece came and sat in the waiting room. She sat quietly without a tear know the family was a mess, smiling sweetly. We got the new of the details that I have Triple Negative Breast Cancer. They found 4 masses in my left breast area 2 malignant and 1 in my lymph node under my arm malignant. Because it is aggressive they have to begin with chemotherapy right away, surgery will be next and then radiation.
20 rounds of chemo. Chemo began this week, September 17, 2018.
