athletic and full of life and love. He has a smile that will just melt
your heart. He also has the very big job of being the youngest of 4
brothers to Colin, Owen and Brenden. He is an everyday ray of sunshine
to his loving parents, Christine and James. Devin has an amazing network and community of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, teachers, family and friends.
Last week, Devin's family got news that has shaken the core of this amazing family.
After some balance and vision issues, Devin was evaluated extensively at
Children's Hospital and was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine
Glioma (DIPG). DIPG is a highly aggressive and difficult to treat brain
tumor that is located on the base of the brain called the Pons. The Pons
is what controls basic vital functions such as breathing, blood
pressure and heart rate. Since this is a rare disease (300 diagnosed in
the US annually), there is no definitive origin or cure. It is typically
diagnosed in children ages 5-9. Devin has been experiencing symptoms
and will start radiation as soon as possible.
We are starting this forum to
provide an opportunity for family and friends to raise awareness, send
hope, prayers and miracles to this strong little boy and his amazing
family. Please feel free to write a message, donate or just let them
know you're thinking of them. This will also provide opportunity for
family to update regarding how Devin is feeling and doing during this
