Derwin Dressler

This Caring Bridge site has been created in an effort to keep the Dressler's family, friends, community and extensive, prayer filled family of Christ informed and up to date on Derwin's progress and every day, joy-filled moments. We invite you to join this journey of prayer, laughter, tears and growth as Christ's bigger plan and promises unfold.

As a brief overview, Derwin has been diagnosed with stage 4 aggressive brain cancer, glioblastoma. He has had a craniotomy to remove as much of the tumor as safely possible (just over 50%), as well as thoracic surgery, to remove a second mass found in his chest (benign) that was causing overproduction of calcium complications. Derwin has spent a fair amount of time in the hospital during two long stints, thus far, but has been home since as he has been receiving radiation treatments and chemotherapy. Next steps are unclear as we await new scans after initial radiation and chemotherapy treatments.

For those that have asked, the family is looking into a beneficiary account and will post further details on this page as they become solidified. We do ask for your continued prayers to seek joy and praise Him through pain and suffering, to provide patience and peace, and prayers over the medical professionals and medical decisions yet to be made. 

Under the journal tab are post-dated entries that were sent out the last couple of months to family and then also to our amazing community. We will work to continue to provide updates and other tidbits and snippets along our journey and invite you to share in them with us. We have truly felt God working through your prayers, cards and pictures from families and students, amazing meals prepared with love and the abundance of offers to help with anything needed. It is an amazing and comforting feeling that cannot fully be described. We claim God's promises every day and can feel Him working in great ways. Thank you for sharing this journey with us.
