Denny was riding his bike and he stopped to visit a good friend. He got off his bike, took his helmet off and his heart stopped. Fortunately his friend Jimmy and a neighbor Claire knew CPR and started immediately. After the ambulance arrived they were able to start his heart, but it continued to stop and he was shocked 6 times. He was sent for a cat scan as he had hit his head pretty hard. He then was sent to the cath lab where they discovered a 95% blockage of the left anterior descending artery aka the widow maker. They put a stent in and that was the only blockage. He was put on a ventilator and spent 6 days in the ICU. He was transferred to the cardiac floor and has been improving every day. He wasn’t swallowing enough liquids and refused pudding, yogurt and juice. They needed to surgically place a feeding tube and that has made a big difference. He knows his name, my name and has had his personality come back. If you call, he does have some brain injury, so keep your questions and conversation simple. He so far knows everyone who calls. Speech therapy believes this will help wake up his brain.
Thanks for visiting! This is a great tool to keep everyone who knows and loves Denny informed.
