Dennis and Patty Ortega Our One Day at a Time

First post: Apr 24, 2017 Latest post: Nov 10, 2017
Cancer isn't something that I am experiencing on my own. It is a "we" thing.  Patty, my loving wife and I tell well wishers we have cancer. We laugh about a text Patty sent me when we were dating.  The salutation read,  "Good morning Liverboy".  Auto check had changed lover to liver.  Now when she calls me her liverboy it is spoken with much love.

Two years ago  a routine physical examine  showed abnormalities on my blood tests.  Referral to specialists and additional tests indicated treatment and medication was nessesary to heal a long undetected health condition.  A suspicious spot on the xray meant more tests.  Thus began our trips out of state to the Liver Transplant Center in Denver and Presbyterian St Lukes Hospital.

Since starting our Caring Bridge site we have been taken off the liver transplant list because the cancer is not contained in the liver. As with life we have had many detours on this journey.
