Denise's story (my mom). She was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Carcinoma cancer in 2012. They found a spot on her pancreas. Tested this spot and it was found out to be a cancerous tumor. Since then the cancer has spread to other areas. She has undergone numerous treatments and surgeries over the past 7 ½ years. Some of the procedures my mom has endured during this fight with cancer; double mastectomy, removal of an ovary, Octreotide treatments (5 years) – most promising, PPRT Radiation with Lutathera – an 8 month procedure, and most recently an open heart valve replacement surgery (yes - all 4). She has survived this cancer longer than most. She has lived a great life and will always be loved. The past 5 years my mom and dad have ramped up their travel, knowing the future may not allow this. She has traveled to many countries, vacationed in many different places, and has truly enjoyed life and our family. In November of 2019, my mom and her family decided not to do any additional cancer treatments. This was decided because the last resort for treatment would be chemo with little upside based on our conversations with doctors at Mayo. Mom has decided to just enjoy the time she has left. My mom is in good spirits and living her life to the fullest.
