Welcome to my CaringBridge website. I am using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. I appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. PRAYERS especially!Thank you for visiting. For the past 2 years I've been having scans done on my kidney when a CT scan found what was likely a small cancer. On February 11 I returned for my yearly scan and my life literally turned upside down. I had a message pop up telling me my test results were in my portal. I was out to dinner with family when I saw I had a neuroendocrine tumor in my pancreas. I was instantly sick and started googling. Steve Jobs and Aretha Franklin's name came up. Unfavorable survival rates came up and then I read only 2 percent of pancreatic cancer patients have this type of cancer and it's highly survivable if found early like mine. Since February I've had a MRI and an endoscopic biopsy on my pancreas at Wake Forest and a Gallium Pet Scan at Duke where I began seeing a net specialist, Dr Michael Morse. God has blessed me finding my cancer early in the pancreas. Its a 1 cm and hasn't spread. My kidney has been put on hold due to it being 1cm and will most likely be addressed when I have my surgery. My next scan if June 21st at Duke and decisions about surgery will be likely made then. These tumors can sit without growing for years or start spreading without warning. Why no surgery yet? The pancreas is complicated...major vessels...a modified whipple could be possible but they won't know til they get in. Stage 1 is the only chance to be cured. Its a very rare cancer, no two people have the same story. I've found a great support group on Facebook. My kids, close family and friends have been told and my support system, especially Chris, have been extraordinary. I'm truly blessed. Asking for prayers that decisions made are the right ones
